Black Friday

Friday, November 27th, 2009

Well of course I would be sick the past couple of days. Although I improved slightly to at least attempt work today.

I crawled out of bed at 430am and was at work at 547 am. Traffic was pretty nuts really. There were cars bumper to bumper, traffic light to traffic light.

We did not open until 7, but there were already a good deal of cars in the parking lot.

We had a meet prior to opening, basically discussing what of the “special deals” that we had on hand and the overall process of what was going to happen.

There was already a line started by the time we finished up our meeting and it was a bit crazy. Well crazier than I thought it would have been for our store really.

We were really only busy for about the first two hours, and after that it fluttered down. After that I started feeling worse and two hours after that the manager let me go home.

So I got 4 hours in today at least.

How was your Black Friday?

Happy Thanksgiving

Sorry my absence from blogging. I have had a lot of things going on, especially with school and family.

I’ll get back to normal here in a bit.

I hope everyone has a safe and happy Thanksgiving!

Early Thanksgiving

Monday, November 23rd, 2009

Mom had been cooking for two days straight and after only a few hours, the pickins were slim.

The menu was extensive, including turkey, homemade meatballs, plentiful appetizers and snacky type foods including her famous cheese ball. Desserts galore including carrot cake, Boston cream pie, Oreo truffles and some peanut butter chocolate pie concoction.

It was a great visit from both of my sisters, and their children. They have all seemed to have gotten bigger since the last time I have seen them. Ah how time flies.

They are such a delight, especially little Jackson. We always have to pour over youtube for John Deere and train videos.

Here are a couple videos I made of Jackson, he is such a doll.

Well, I had a great weekend, I only wish that it could have lasted longer.

Have a good one!

Black Friday

Friday, November 20th, 2009
Yep, not for me, but I think I see my sister in there.

Yep, not for me, but I think I see my sister in there.

We are one week away from the time when shoppers get nuttier than normal and get up at the wee hours of the AM and shop.

My sister will be doing this…she fits the profile of these people to a “T.”

Unfortunately I will be amassed in it this year. I work 6am-2pm Friday. I’m not scheduled to be up on the register, so that should be even more fun.

I just don’t get it myself. I haven’t really seen any “great” deals. In fact I have seen the Black Friday ad for our store and there isn’t really any good deals there either. Some of the “Black Friday deals” are actually already out and running in this weeks ad.

I wonder if that is the case at most places. Are there any real deals? I know at some stores if you are there between 5 and 10, have a red sweater on, are between the age of 13-43, and happen to be lucky enough to be the person with the correct ticket, you will get the one item that is on sale at that price.

Okay, I know that is taken to the extreme, but you get my point.

I just don’t think that there are any great deals out there. I would rather stay at home and shop the internet.

After talking with my sister, she just likes the excitement of being out there, and she admitted that there aren’t many good deals, but its just the adventure.

Not for me, but whatever puts sprinkles on your cupcake.

Have a good one

Topping off?

Thursday, November 19th, 2009
Gotta get it even...

Gotta get it even...

Do you top off at the gas pump?

It stops at 31.20, do you bump it to the next dollar, or to the next .50 cents?

I always try to bump it to an even dollar amount, what is even worse is when I bump it up and I go over by .01. Jeez that is so upsetting.

Most vehicles it is not a problem to add that extra portion of gas after the pump shuts off. However as I say that, there is an exception. The Corvette.

In order to give the Corvette a good driving range they had to do dual 9 gallon tanks. There is one on the left and one on the right side of the vehicle and the are connected. The right fills up first, then spills into the left if I recall correctly.

Well when that sucker gets full…you might get another .20 before she will overflow. I definitely found this out through experience.

I have found that most pumps discourage topping off for whatever reason. Does anyone know why this is?

Regardless, I always top it off. Do you do this as well? If so, what is your reasoning.
